CT Camp Day 1 > Reenie Parker

Eric’s CT Tri-Camp, Day 1 – Lot’s of Laugh’s, Great Scenery, Incredible Hills, Gusty Winds & Terrific Comradarie!!!

This is my fourth time at Eric’s Tri-Camp and I’ve loved the experience every year!!!  Eric’s ability to make each year different is an art he has truly mastered.  Day 1 today was no exception!  Here’s the story as I saw it………………

Our 6:15 parking lot meeting to drive over to the new pool at Hotchkiss School was clearly earlier than I ever remember!   This pool is unbelievable, it is the cleanest, clearest most enjoyable pool that you’ve ever seen and swam in your life!!  Shall I say it was even fun?!!?

We all dashed to breakfast as fast as we possibly could, as it seemed we had not eaten in at least 36 hours!!!  We ate as much as we could because we saw our day schedule, and  returning to the hotel wasn’t on our schedule until 6pm!(Was that a misprint?)

Our next adventure was a bike ride.  Eric’s  “pack your bike clothes” was our first  hint that he had other activities in store for us while out on the road!   We all knew we were riding first, but what we didn’t anticipate was the gale force windy gusts we met on our bike ride!  Holding on for dear life, we all survived, but it was a definite ride for the record books!  Our Hill Repeats on gravel were interesting, all of them!  Lunch followed in the sunshine, over looking beautiful Bish Bash Falls.

The ride after lunch reminded me of the “Beast” in the St, Croix Half Ironman, a grade you really can’t believe exists!  Yet, another one for the record books!  But as the saying goes, what goes up must come down, and the downhill was well worth the climb.  The rest of the afternoon ride back to the Interlaken Inn was beautiful, scenic, and peaceful.  Well, that is if you forget about your quads burning, a wonderful reminder that much effort was put into the day.

Eric’s planning, daily schedules, bike & run routes, really show the time and effort he puts into each and every day designing his camp.  Today was much different from the other years, and I am really excited about the adventure in store for us all tomorrow!
